Before and After a Dental Implant Restoration

Visit Basti Dental Care for dental implant restoration. This is the best way to replace teeth that have been lost due to an accident or decay. A dental implant is an effective way for replacing teeth because it is the only solution where an implant is surgically secured to the jawbone, thereby replacing the root in addition to the visible tooth. We complete this process on a regular basis and recommend visiting our office to learn more. Whether tooth loss is recent or you are wishing to replace dentures or a dental bridge, we can go over the process in detail.

Dental implant restoration, after-the-fact

Some patients have received a dental implant but have accidentally damaged it after-the-fact. Implants are incredibly durable so this rarely happens but it is still possible. Doing something as simple as eating a bag of trail mix can lead to damage with the restoration, just like it can with naturally occurring teeth. Likewise, a car or other accident may lead to damage of the implant and surrounding teeth.

In this scenario, it may not be necessary to replace the metal implant that is secured to the jawbone. It may be possible to restore the implant by simply replacing or fixing the damaged crown, or visible portion of the tooth. We can make this determination after completing an examination in our office. If we feel that this is a viable option, we will then discuss next steps so that patients understand what their options are. This is not a procedure that every dentist offers so it is important to visit someone like ourselves who is experienced in handling dental implant restorations.

Patients visit us for a secure solution

Other patients visit us for the first time because they are tired of wearing dentures and feeling as though their replacement teeth are not securely held in place. Even the best fitting set of dentures is not going to provide the level of security that an implant would simply for the fact that they are designed to be removable. This means that by nature, it is possible for them to slip out-of-place. Anyone who is tired about being concerned over the stability of their teeth will find it beneficial to replace their dentures with an implant instead.

It takes time to place an implant because the metal portion must be surgically placed and the gums will need time to heal. Then, osseointegration will need to occur. This is where the body begins to deposit bone around the implant, essentially fusing it to the jawbone and creating a durable synthetic root system for the new crown to be secured to. During this process, patients can continue to wear dentures so that it looks as though they have a full set of healthy teeth. Then, once ready, we can secure the crown to an abutment that is attached to the implanted post. This will complete the process so our patients can enjoy having a full set of healthy teeth that look and feel entirely natural.
